Mission Statement
The mission of Tri-County CAP through the Great North Woods Outdoor Center is to help disadvantaged individuals in the three most northern counties of New Hampshire acquire skills and experiences which will allow them to be more self-reliant and less dependent.Purpose of Grant
The purpose of the Great Bay grant was to fund the startup of the programs at the Center. These programs will be marketed to people who want to experience outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking, orientiering, woodcraft, etc. These clients could come from anywhere.The income from these outdoor experiential and recreational programs will help fund programs for individuals who are physically and mentally disadvantaged and who would gain skills and confidence from experiencing and mastering outdoor crafts and sports.

The goal of this project is to create The Great North Woods Outdoor Center, a center in the Berlin area which will diversify the economy of the region, promote the conservation of the natural resources of the area, train under-served area residents in the field of ecotourism and outdoor recreation to enable them to acquire skills that will make them more attractive to employers, all while providing world class activities to a wide spectrum of clients and focusing on those who are physically, mentally, and economically challenged.The Center will offer training for local youths and young adults who come from the economically disadvantaged area of Northern New Hampshire. Some of the programs that the center will offer will be 2-day White Water Kayaking Workshops, an Explorers Club, and a Sea Kayak Adventure Camp
