Mission Statement

3 dresersTo provide viable employment opportunities for people with disabilities in the workplace and to enhance their marketable skills, integrate disabled and non-disabled workforces, and generate revenue to support and enhance the activities of the Maine Woodworks Project and Creative Work Systems.

Purpose of Grant

$190,000 - The purpose of this grant is to provide capital to Maine WoodWorks which will allow it to add painted furniture and hardwood lines of furniture.

The funds will be used to purchase equipment, get expert help with plant layout and design and to fund additional key management positions. This will allow Maine WoodWorks to expand its product offerings to generate more cashflow to help support its operations and the other programs of its parent organization.

$80,000 Recoverable Grant in 2005 to obtain a computer design machine that would enable them to make their own beadbord for their wood products.

Additional Information

Creative Work Systems employs mentally challenged individuals in its woodworking manufacturing facility in Biddeford, Maine where it produces a variety of unfinished softwood case goods (dressers and chests) and furniture that can be stained or painted in sixteen vibrant colors - a sample of three below:
