Mission Statement

To improve the lives of Maine artisans as well as the communities and economy of rural Maine by helping artisan entrepreneurs build business skills, cooperatively expand their markets, and educate the public.

Purpose of Grant

To support the new, retail, Center for Maine Craft project.

Additional Information

The Maine Highlands Guild is dedicated to improving the economy and communities of The Maine Highlands (Piscataquis and Penobscot Counties). The Guild accomplishes this by providing local artisan entrepreneurs with the education, networking, and mentoring that allows them access to new markets and sales opportunities. Helping artisan businesses attain sustainability in rural Maine’s transitioning economy is a strategy that builds on the region’s assets. The Guild reflects a state and national movement to encourage the creative economy.
