Mission Statement

To help move children from poverty into a higher level of life long self-sufficiency.

Purpose of Grant

The grant from Great Bay has been used by the Cathedral School to add three grade levels, to provide tuition subsidies to needy children, to increase enrollment so that the school is fully enrolled, to upgrade the computer center by acquiring thirty computers, to hire a computer teacher and coach, and to hire a development director.

The grant is made for a period of three years during which the school is raising an endowment so that it can continue providing tuition subsidies to needy students.

Additional Information

The Cathedral School is located on Munjoy Hill in the city of Portland. Historically, the school has served students of the ethnically diverse neighborhood in which it is located. Many of its students are children of recent immigrants who have to struggle to send their children to the school.
