In this seminal paper, J. Gregory Dees, a leading thinker in the field of social entrepreneurship, presents his definition of social entrepreneurs. Referred to often by scholars and practitioners, this paper is a must-read in the field. The paper can be found online at the website of Duke University's Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship, where Dees is currently the Faculty Director. At the time the paper was written Dees was a professor of public service at Stanford's Graduate School of Business and an Entrepreneur-In-Residence with the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.
